A very sad goodbye to Haringey Women's Institute (for now!)
In the past year we've had a lot of fun and met many new friends, but now, as our head girls are set to be- far too busy in 2010 to organise tea, gossip, and arts and crafts every month, unfortunately it has to come to an end.
We are holding a leaving party for members only on Saturday the 14th of November from 8pm!

Christmas will be here soon!! For October's meeting (Tuesday the 13th) we will be making our very own hand printed gift wrap and cards! If you have anything useful to bring along (prints or paints or paper) the please do- but if not don't worry! we have lots of supplies! Hope to see you all there!

Bowling in September!

This month the meeting is going to be held at the Finsbury Park Bowling Alley Rowan's (www.rowans.co.uk), It has be put forward to Tuesday the 22th at 7.30pm!

Hello girls, On Tuesday we will be holding a sewing night! It would help if you have any old neeedles/ clothes/ thread/ material you would like to use but don't worry if you haven't we have lots here too.
We will be making shopping bags/ cushion covers/ aprons- but if you don't fancy that then you can also bring along any of your clothes that need fixing! (not denim, as we don't have an industrial sewing machine).

Das Sreedharan, who owns and set up the Southern Indian Rasa restaurants, to come and give us a talk and cook us some amazing food- how lucky are we?!

Tomorrow's Meeting! (sorry it's late)

At tomorrow's meeting our president and secretary will lead us in a workshop to make beautiful bird houses!

A bird house can fit on any wall in any space- so are practical for city girls who want to encourage the wildlife in their area!

we are showing off our finished products in the Summer/Autumn window display for Pages Of Hakney on Lower Clapton road!

There is no speaker this month, we will be planning the speakers for 2010.

JAM JAM JAM-

For our first meeting we are going to get together with a few bottles of wine, learn a little about the history of Jam&Jerusalem, different types of jam & fruit, and then get stuck into making vats of jam for fund-raising! At the end of the night we each get to take a jar home, and we'll have all got to know each other properly! PLEASE COLLECT JARS!!
A questionnaire will also be given out (and will be given out throughout the year to new members) so that we have an idea of what you want to do/who you want to hear speak etc.

Definitely one to attend, the original Swap Shop girls put on 'Feather Duster The Clothing Swap'- a wonderful solution to spending money on the highstreet and having an even better time!
Events are hosted by Hybird, an events promoter and creative consultancy in the capital.
